Traci Hicks
CNM
Traci Hicks is a devoted wife to a handsome and loving man, a mother of three sons and one daughter, and a proud grandmother to an adorable grandson. She cherishes spending time with her family, lounging by the pool, and caring for her dogs and horses.
Legacy holds great importance to Traci. Her grandmother, Nellie Thompson, has been a profound influence on her life. Nellie was a public health registered nurse in Columbus, Georgia, in the 1940s, working and learning from the Granny midwives. Hearing her grandmother's stories of maternal healthcare during segregation and witnessing the lasting admiration from her community inspired Traci to become a Nurse Midwife.
With over 20 years of experience in women's healthcare, Traci began her career as an LPN, progressed to an RN, and now serves as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). Seventeen of those years were spent as a Labor and Delivery RN at Huntsville Hospital, followed by two years as an RN birth assistant at Vanderbilt Birth Center. Traci is dedicated to improving maternal mortality rates for all, especially people of color. She passionately believes in birth equity and ensuring patients' voices are heard in healthcare decisions.
Traci is proud to be a member of the Alabama Birth Center team, where she continues to make a positive impact on maternal healthcare.
